Steel billet is the product obtained by casting molten steel refined in a steelmaking furnace. Steel billets can be mainly divided into two types in terms of manufacturing processes: mold casting billets and continuous casting billets, and mold casting processes have been basically eliminated.

Steel billets are originally steel, and after processing, they can be used as mechanical parts, forgings, and various types of steel for processing. Q345B channel steel and wire are the functions of steel billets.

Steel billets refer to semi-finished products used in the production of steel, which are generally not directly available for social use. Steel billets and steel products have strict classification standards, which cannot be determined by whether they are the final products of the enterprise, but must be implemented according to the unified standards of the whole society. In general, steel billets and steel are relatively easy to distinguish, but for some steel billets that have the same specifications and uses as steel (such as rolled pipe billets), they can be distinguished by whether they are used in other industries, whether they have undergone steel processing technology, and whether they have been processed by finished rolling mills.

Continuous cast steel billets and rectangular billets are mainly represented by ordinary carbon steel, low-carbon and low silicon cold-rolled materials, high-quality carbon structural steel, low-alloy high-strength steel, special steel grades, etc.

Steel billets are produced through three processes:

One is to directly cast steel billets from molten steel through the continuous casting equipment of the steelmaking system;

The second is the semi-finished steel products processed by the rolling equipment of the steel rolling system from the steel ingots or continuous casting billets produced by the steelmaking system;

The third is the semi-finished product produced by forging equipment on the steel ingots produced by the steelmaking system.
